Why us

What you get that you might not elsewhere

Small outfit, no call center, no subcontractors. You deal with the people doing the work.

Family-owned, and you get the owner

5 years, father and son. The person who quotes your job is the person on site running it.

Licensed and insured

CSLB #1097005, class D-49. We carry liability coverage and we can send you the certificate before we start.

Cleanup is always included

Brush chipped on site, ground raked, debris gone. It is never a line item you find later.

We rig, we do not drop

Marin lots rarely have a drop zone. We take trees down in sections, controlled the whole way, away from your roof and your neighbor.

A written price before anything starts

Free on-site estimate, in writing. What we quote is what you pay, and we itemize it so you can see what you are paying for.

Se habla español

The crew works in English and Spanish. Ask for whichever is easier for you.

How a job goes

Three steps, no surprises

From the first call to the last rake. You always know what happens next and what it costs.

02

Scheduled work

We agree on a date and arrive with the crew and the equipment to finish it in one go.

03

Full cleanup

Chips hauled, debris gone, ground raked. When we leave, the only sign we were there is the tree that isn't.

Climber topped out on a bare redwood spar, taking the tree down in sections

How it comes down

Most of it comes down in sections

People picture a tree service felling a trunk in one piece. On a Marin lot that is almost never an option — there is a house on one side, a fence on the other, and a neighbor’s roof past that.

So a climber goes up, strips the limbs, and works the trunk down a piece at a time. Every section is roped off and lowered under control instead of dropped. It takes longer than felling and it is the reason the yard underneath still looks like a yard when we’re finished.

By the time the spar is this bare, the hard part is over. What’s left is cutting it down to the stump and getting the wood out.

Jorge and his team worked incredibly fast and hard not to mention efficiently in our backyard. They trimmed the trees back for the safety of the neighborhood and to beautify our space. Above all, my wife and I have sunflowers and assorted plants and Jorge, Oswaldo, Alex, and Santos made certain to take care of them amidst the cutting and trimming. Highly recommend their fine work to anyone and everyone. Many thanks for reading this review and hope it helps.

Immediate service response after storm sent heavy palm fronds everywhere. They did an exceptional, meticulous job trimming back my monster palms, were courteous of my time and property and cleaned up all debris! I loved these guys! They will come back in two years for sure. And the price was right.

★★★★★

Jorge and his team were fast, punctual, courteous, and clean. He arrived to provide an estimate exactly when he said and also showed up on time with his crew for the day of the job. His team came in and completed the tree and stump removal extremely quickly and cleaned up the work area as well as other parts of the house. Jorge even offered to provide extra services under the initially estimated price. 10/10 will work with him again.

We couldn't be more delighted and impressed. Jorge Chan and crew with National Wildfire Prevention did an excellent job. They pruned our tall pine and other trees, cleared shrub and chipped. They cleaned up after the completing of their work. They are licensed and insured, which was important to us. I strongly recommend them and will hire them again.

★★★★★

These guys just came to my house and quickly removed a tree stump down to a foot below ground level. It was a tricky job because the stump was right up against a fence and was pushing the fence over. My neighbor and I were in the process of fixing the fence so it was very beneficial that these guys were available to do the work ASAP. They were courteous and professional and now we can fix the fence correctly.

Professional, excellent and no complaints. I highly recommend Jorge and his team. They came on time, did an amazing job. Our neighbors were also very impressed and highly complimentary as the trees being trimmed also hang over their property. The tree trimmer obviously has great love and respect for trees. He's an artist.

Really good value, responsible, professional. We had a couple different crews work on our trees over the years they were the best!

If I could give more than 5 stars I definitely would. They did an amazing job for me. They were quick and precise. Jorge would keep me updated about how the job was going which was really great. I will definitely call him back in the future!

Jorge and his workers did a fabulous job. They cut down a 20-30 foot tree and cleaned up all the branches and hauled it all away for a reasonable price. I will use him again!

Where we work

All over Marin

Most of our work is in San Rafael, Mill Valley, Tiburon and Novato — those four towns have their own pages below.

We’re out just as often in Fairfax, San Anselmo, Sausalito, Corte Madera and Larkspur, and anywhere else in the county. Ask and we’ll tell you straight whether we cover you.

Beyond the county we work in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Richmond, San Bruno and Petaluma.

8am – 5pm, seven days a week. Emergency calls answered any time.

Questions

The things people ask before they book

Not here? See all questions, or call and ask — we’d rather answer it now than in the driveway.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. We come out, look at the tree, and give you a written price. There is no charge and no obligation to book.

How fast will you get back to me?

We reply within 30 minutes during 8am – 5pm, seven days a week. Storm and emergency calls are answered outside those hours too.

Do you handle the permit?

Yes. Some Marin towns require a permit for protected or heritage trees. We can handle that side of it — tell us when we come out and we will let you know whether your tree needs one.

Is cleanup included?

Always. We chip the brush on site, rake the ground, and haul the debris off. It is part of the job, not an add-on.

What about the wood itself?

How much wood there is factors into the quote — a large redwood is a very different job from a medium lemon tree. That is one of the reasons we look at the tree in person instead of pricing it over the phone.

How deep do you grind a stump?

Deep enough to replant. There is no single number worth quoting, because a bigger trunk sits on a bigger root plate. We set the depth to the tree and tell you what it will be when we quote.

Do I need to be home?

Ideally you are there at the start so we can walk the job together, and at the end so you can look it over. Neither is required if that does not work for your schedule.

How does payment work?

Larger jobs take a 50% deposit before we start, with the balance on completion. Smaller jobs are usually just paid in full at the end. Check or cash.

Do you take emergency and storm calls?

Any time. If a tree is on a structure or a limb has failed, call us. If any part of the tree is touching a power line, call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 first and keep everyone clear until the line is dead.

Do you work with insurance claims?

We do. We photograph the job as we work and can send you the photos and a written scope for your claim.
