The trees change as you move around it: redwood and Douglas fir on the shaded slopes, coast live oak almost everywhere, eucalyptus and Monterey pine on the exposed ridges, palms and fruit trees in the older neighborhoods. What does not change is that almost nowhere in Marin has a clear drop zone, so most of what we do comes down in sections. Every town here has its own tree ordinance and they are not the same — give us the address and we will tell you what applies before anything gets scheduled.

Tree removal in Marin County
Most of the trees we take down in Marin have no room to drop. We climb, rig and lower them in sections, so the work stays off your roof, your fence and your neighbor’s yard. Dead and dying trees, structural failure, and trees leaning over a house are the usual reasons — and if pruning can save it, we will tell you so. Many Marin towns have their own rules for protected and heritage trees, so we look into what may apply at your address before anything is scheduled.

Thinning, crown raising and reduction for coast live oak, redwood, bay laurel and the ornamentals around older Marin houses — plus clearance from roofs and service lines. Anything actually touching a power line is PG&E’s job first. We do not top trees: it forces weak regrowth and opens the tree to decay. Some Marin towns also restrict topping, so ask us what applies where you are.

If any part of the tree is touching a power line, call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 before anyone goes near it. On site we take the weight off the structure first, and we photograph the job for your insurance claim.

We grind stumps deep enough to replant, with the depth set to the size of the tree, and we tell you that depth when we quote. The grindings can backfill the hole or be hauled off. If we are removing the tree, we can grind the stump in the same visit.

The company started as National Wildfire Prevention, and fuel reduction is the work it started with. Across much of Marin, defensible-space inspections are carried out by the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority and local fire agencies, and what they look for is the work we do: dead material and ladder fuels out, limbs lifted off the roofline, overhang reduced, debris chipped and hauled rather than piled. If you have an inspection notice, bring it out when we come look and we will quote against what the inspection flagged.

Immediate service response after storm sent heavy palm fronds everywhere. They did an exceptional, meticulous job trimming back my monster palms, were courteous of my time and property and cleaned up all debris! I loved these guys! They will come back in two years for sure. And the price was right.
We couldn't be more delighted and impressed. Jorge Chan and crew with National Wildfire Prevention did an excellent job. They pruned our tall pine and other trees, cleared shrub and chipped. They cleaned up after the completing of their work. They are licensed and insured, which was important to us. I strongly recommend them and will hire them again.

Our neighbors were also very impressed and highly complimentary as the trees being trimmed also hang over their property. The tree trimmer obviously has great love and respect for trees.
