Thinning, raising, and reduction
Thinning opens the canopy so wind passes through instead of pushing the whole tree. Raising lifts the lower limbs for clearance. Reduction shortens the crown while keeping its shape. Which one you need depends on the tree and the problem.
Clearance from roofs and lines
Limbs over a roof drop debris into gutters and give rodents a bridge. Limbs near service lines are a fire and outage risk. Anything actually touching a power line is PG&E’s job, not ours — call them first.
Why we will not top a tree
Topping — cutting the crown back to stubs — is still common and it is bad practice. It forces weak regrowth, opens the tree to decay, and creates a more dangerous tree in a few years. If someone quotes you a cheap topping job, that is why it is cheap.
How often
Most ornamental and broadleaf trees in Marin want attention every two to four years. Fruit trees are usually annual. If you cannot remember the last time a tree was pruned, it is probably due.

Are estimates really free?
Yes. We come out, look at the tree, and give you a written price. There is no charge and no obligation to book.
Is cleanup included?
Always. We chip the brush on site, rake the ground, and haul the debris off. It is part of the job, not an add-on.
Do you handle the permit?
Yes. Some Marin towns require a permit for protected or heritage trees. We can handle that side of it — tell us when we come out and we will let you know whether your tree needs one.
How far out are you booking?
It depends on the season and the size of the job. We will tell you a realistic date when we quote rather than promising one we cannot hold. Emergencies jump the queue.
